Orthodontic appliances can be tricky and confusing at times, especially because there are so many of them! Patients often confuse Invisalign® and clear braces with each other, and we are here to tell you the differences between the two!

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that consists of multiple clear, plastic aligners. These aligners cover all of your teeth, like a rubber mouth guard would, and they gradually transform your smile throughout time. The aligners are removable, virtually invisible, and only available for those with non-serious alignment issues. As you proceed through treatment, you can eat and drink whatever you would like as well as brush and floss your teeth normally.

Clear Braces
Clear Braces are tooth-colored appliances that are glued to the front surfaces of your teeth. You will come into our office every few weeks to get your braces tightened and adjusted. This appliance is not removable; however, it does blend in with the color of your teeth, which gives you a natural appearance as you change your smile. This treatment is available to those with non-serious alignment problems as well as serious alignment problems. While you proceed through the treatment, you will need to be careful of the foods and drinks you consume, especially those that can stain the braces, and flossing may be more difficult than the traditional flossing technique you use without braces.
